Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 reintroduced players to the iconic World at War Zombies experience with The Giant, a modernized remake of Der Riese. While maintaining the classic layout, this version reimagines the original Fly Trap quest into a refined main questline known as the Paradoxical Prologue. Players who successfully solve this hidden objective gain powerful tactical advantages and crucial story lore.

Activating Power and the Pack-a-Punch Machine

Before initiating the main questline, players must restore power across the facility and unlock the Pack-a-Punch machine. To complete the link, turn on the power switch in the central courtyard and line up each of the three teleporters with the central mainframe. Activating each pad requires standing on the platform, triggering the link sequence, and running back to the mainframe within thirty seconds.

Linking all three teleporters permanently lowers the security door in the spawn courtyard, giving full access to weapon upgrades. Upgrading at least one weapon is mandatory because standard firearms cannot trigger the quest steps. Having a upgraded weapon ensures your team is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.

Triggering the Fly Trap Hide and Seek Quest

With a Pack-a-Punch weapon equipped, head to the control panel area opposite the Animal Testing Labs entrance. Aim at the control console outside the playable map boundary and fire an upgraded bullet to initiate the quest. A series of glowing green items will rise into the sky, signaling that the hide-and-seek phase has officially begun.

You must locate three hidden objects hidden around the map and shoot them in any order using any firearm. The first object is a Monkey Bomb located inside a dark, unlit furnace under Teleporter A. The second item is a Teddy Bear resting on a distant fire escape outside the map to the left of the power switch. The final item is another Teddy Bear sitting inside a water cooling vat near the second-floor generator room.

Claiming the Annihilator and Main Rewards

Once all three hidden objects are shot, head directly to the furnace room inside the hangar garage area. A glowing, powerful Annihilator specialist weapon will appear inside the open furnace ready for collection. Picking up this weapon grants a unique high-damage secondary capability that remains available throughout your match.

Completing this quest grants 1,000 XP and awards a Gateworm icon on your main map selection screen. Collecting all Gateworms across the Black Ops 3 Zombies maps unlocks the RK5 starting pistol for future matches. This straightforward Easter egg serves as an excellent entry point for players exploring the game's broader narrative arc.
